  Root Directory for WebSite
This is the directory that is where the HTML/GIF/JPEG files are stored. These are the files that comprise your web site. You can also create sub-directories under this directory.

The Root Directory is the top directory in the hierarchy that you want to serve out to your friends and associates. It is the top directory of your web site. A web server looks into the root directory for your homepage file. This is usually referred to as index.html; however it can be any name you choose as long as it is specified in the Default Document field of the Server Properties page..
